I’m not sure if they give meters, to be honest I haven’t been given that much info from the docs and I kinda feel like I have been left to it.You can eat as much cheese as you want as long as it’s not with crackers or breads. You’ll find you won’t eat much as it is filling.
Yes you need a meter. With out it you wont know which food spikes your blood sugar
@Rachox has the info you need to get a meter.
As I understand in the UK the doctors don’t give meters for type 2s
I know it’s hard to see past it. But I know for me the diagnosis gave me a tangible reason for what made me feel so awful.I hope both can be healed, I just need to be positive and accept this, I feel like I’m still in the denial stage right now.

I was thinking of foods I can have, would chicken wrapped in bacon be ok?
Yes. Lol but it would a yummy supper as well.Chicken thighs wrapped in a crispy, streaky bacon jacket with melted cheese all over.
Is it too early for breakfast?
Well........ and cheese. There are so many varieties. In a post apocalypse I’d be happy so long as I had streaky bacon and water.

What is the Keto flu?Cauliflower cheese, mmmmmmm.
If you start lchf, there are a couple of things you should know. Carbs are addictive as you will find out if you cut them out, I started at 20g per day. It took me around 4 weeks to get over the carb addiction. Suddenly, I was through it and I wasn't hungry. No more snacking, the urge was rarely there. I was concentrating on keeping the numbers down and all of a sudden my clothes were getting baggy. In around 9 months I had reached my target weight and shed 14kg.
Keto flu. This can occur when you first start. There are things you can do to avoid/minimise the effects.
Everything you have learned about dieting is now turned on its head. Count carbs not calories. Do not buy low fat anything.
You don't have to eat certain foods for breakfast/lunch/dinner, whatever you want can be eaten at any time of day, it may seem a little odd at first.
@Rachox, is the inspirational stories book that was compiled available as a link anywhere?
That sounds so good!
What’s the deal with mayo and sauces? With broccoli and asparagus on the side drowned in butter.
See? Being diabetic is actually pretty amazing when you get the hang of it
Mayo yes. And sauces are fine as long as they haven’t been thickened with flour. What’s the deal with mayo and sauces?
Are the best veg to have green?

Thank you! I’m assuming gravy will be ok then?Mayo yes. And sauces are fine as long as they haven’t been thickened with flour.
Any above ground vegetables.
The dietdoctor.com website has great ideas.
Oh right so stay away from stuff for diabetics?I tend to use Hellman's. Not the lite version.
Bottled sauces. Read the ingredients. Ditch anything with sugar. Lots of low carb condiment recipes on line.
When I first started, I couldn't drink tea. The semi-skimmed milk made me spike and I can't stand full fat milk. I copied fine with double cream in my coffee. Decadence!
The skinnier the milk, the higher the carbs.
Now several months down the line, I can now tolerate my tea with SS milk.
Don't be tempted to buy anything for diabetics like diabetic ice-cream.
