So how did we all cope with Christmas dinner?

I had turkey and stuffing (more sausage than sage and onion), carrots and the first roast potatoes in months. 2 hours later I was 6.4 which is high for me. When I got down to 5.0 I had a slither of Christmas pud with cream. 2 and a half hours later I was 7.0. To watch the affect on my blood sugar was a shock, as I hadn't eaten sweet processed stuff for so long. So I went on the treadmill for just 10 minutes and my blood went down to 4.9.

There's loads of Christmas pud left. But I'm letting everyone else have it.

My diabetic Christmas dinner plans are like my financial budget plans - look great on paper but they never quite work out that way....

How did anyone else cope?

Hi
I was so lucky, first diabetic Christmas and been under the weather so didn't really fancy much typical, had a small diner and mouth full of pud, didn't taste as good as I thought. Had practically nothing sweet for 9 weeks so it tasted highly processed. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same. Good way to see how these things do effect your bloods. Enjoy the rest of the day

Yes OK. I had roast chicken, 8 different veggies, 2 small potatoes (put 3 on my plate but didn't want the last one) and a very very small bit of Christmas pudding with lots of cream. No wine :)

Well chuffed!
Have eaten more carbs than usual over the last few days (still LC, just not VLC), sort of working up to the possibility of a food inhalation today ;)
But haven't actually wanted or needed to have a blow out.

I'm quite surprised, actually.

Hope I feel the same tomorrow. :nailbiting:

I put a roast spud on my plate and then gave it to Mr Ethyl, along with some of my carrots. Only had two teeny stuffing balls, one with dinner at lunchtime and one just now for late tea. A sliver of chocolate cake about the size of quarter of a matchbox, if that and two dark chocolate brazils. Pate and cheese for tea, with 1/8th of a mini pork pie and 4 crisps. Tbh I just didn't want anything much. My appetite has shrunk and I'm getting better at recognising when it's greed versus hunger these days.

Christmas dinner is easy peasy :) meat meat meat and veg veg veg

It's the bucket of chocolates in the room that's my challenge :)

Had small portions of everything you can think of. Did not test all day after a fasting level this morning of 5,1. Tested before going to bed at 6,9. Any other day, I would be concerned.
I am happy with that for Christmas Day.

Now back to tighter control tomorrow.

Next pretend you are not diabetic day coming round in exactly one year.

Hope everyone had a great day

The boy done good!! Meat, meat, meat and a stuffing ball. No pud. Had some breast of turkey, and veg.
Done something i haven't done for ages. Didn't have salad today.
Roast gammon for supper with onion &cucumber in vinegar. Followed by some yoghurt & chocolate. Mmmmmm!

What about New Years eve/day and your birthday and everybody elses birthday. Oh and all the saints days and Tescos opening another branch day. Car passing its MOT day....................................:D are these not all Non diabetic days?

Dinner with yorkshires and 3 roast pots. Christmas pudd rum sauce, 8 quality streets and the amount of wine I'd usually drink in a month! :hungover:

Coped very well but ate and drank too much, managed to get in two long walks so don't feel too bad :)

I was 5.4 before Christmas dinner then after a dog walk and 2 hours I went down to 4.0

I probably shouldn't have tested as I then had a large slice of double chocolate cake with double cream followed by lots of chocolates but I still only peaked at 6.5 so why not?

I seem to be able to get away with it from time to time - I guess the trick is not to abuse it.

Had a smallish/medium dinner, no sausage or stuffing, ( cant eat certain foods), 3 low carb, homemade chocolate truffles, no alcohol until much later, that was a snow ball.A small tea, dip with raw vegetables, small packet of crisps (10 carbs), 2 quality street and one snow ball. Went to bed on 8.9, 11.30pm, and then this morning, well, I wont put down what my BS is, so frustrating and annoying, if my teenager wasn't here, I would shout a lot worse, I just want to :banghead::bigtears::arghh::arghh: :bigtears:    :sour: ............................. Type 1, and I can't eat anything I want :arghh: :( and we walked back from my dad's, 40 minutes too.

Rant over now ,

Have a good Boxing day folks

Have a sinus infection so needing a lot more insulin than usual anyway (Type 1), but enjoyed my Christmas dinner. I love veggies/savoury more than puddings so prawns/melon/ham to start with followed by Turkey, 2 roasties, stuffing and loads of veg. Bloods no higher than 7 all day but I was taking increased basal through my pump for my infection. Pleased how stable I was.

Turkey dinner with 2 small roasties, lots of veg, 2 pigs in blankets and sausage meat stuffing followed by a small slice of Xmas pud and loads of cream washed done with some white wine. Supper at 9.30 was turkey sandwich with one piece of seeded bread, packet of Wotsits and full fat Greek yogurt with nuts and flax seed mixed in. No chocolates at all!!!!! However there is a box of Thorntons (other choccies are available) looking at me from the dining table so may have to have one or two later. Tested this morning at 5.30 and it was 6.5 - higher than normal but it's Christmas!!! Out today for lunch so hopefully will be able to find something low-carbish but, if not, it's not the end of the world and I can re-start tomorrow
