I know that some of you don't believe the hype / worth / expense of specific diabetic socks, but........
.... my Mrs bought me 3 pairs a few months ago. They have been really good for me.
My feet are a bit 'delicate'. Painful at times, particularly when walking cycling a decent distance.
I've just bought 3 more pairs for £10. Not exactly the same but really good for me.socks sm.jpg

I bought three pairs of assorted colours that were brilliant, So I went to buy more, but in Black.
They arrived in a totally different style and kept slipping down the inside of my shoes.

The art or craft of sock knitting is very satisfying - I have many pairs of hand knitted socks which are so very comfortable.
Socks which slide down are usually made too short in the sole or too deep at the arch.
Although proper wool and nylon sock yarn is expensive these days it is usually hard wearing - I have some all Nylon hiking hose which I made over 50 years ago using second hand yarn from an outgrown jumper.

I always wear hand-knitted socks in bed, mostly knitted by my sister. I think that I will try to knit pair but will most likely will have to get guidance on how to turn the heel, as I'm out of practice. It really is difficult to find good yarn. I once made the mistake of buying some from a well-known discount store and the socks shrunk in the first wash.

Matalan have them for £5 for 3 pairs in ladies. I haven’t needed to look at mens. Soft grips that is.

There are quite a few 'how to' instructions around. I usually do toe up and knit to the very last inch of the yarn.
I have used non superwash yarn in the past, and used to wash things by hand. I still have a stand alone spin dryer which meant that I could then hand up most things without danger of them being stretched.
