Hi guys. I'll be as quick as possible, so hang in there. I think i may have type 1, but my doctor brushed it aside, and told me to come back next week :-/ Baaically, i am been treated for, an as uet undiagnosed autoimmune problem, which appears to be gearing towards Churg Strauss Syndrome.

Well, approx 3 weeks ago, i started to feel and notice some new symptoms, and theu continuw as i write. I have noticed a large increase in urination, and now wake 3/4 times a nigjt to go pee. I also have an unstoppable thirst. My eyes have started going out of focus, and as night fraws in, i get very sweaty and hot. Almost forgot the recent dry mouth and throat, which seems to be accompaned by a salty taste.

Well 1 week ago, i began to feel worse. Last monday at work, just after lunch, i started to feel dizzy and distany to those around me. This quickly followed by mild shakes. I went home early, and fatigued out on the sofa for about 3 days. I started to feel a bit better, but wwithout my normal energy level. I went to the docs, but he was not much help, and didn't even offer a BG test.

I am a very active person, and have been doing martial arts for almost 30 years. I went and did some light training today, and felt much better after. FF to tonight, and post meal, and i feel **** again.

So basically, does this sound familiar, and should i go get a test done? And what is the likely path of progression if i leave it?

Thanks so much, and sorry for the spelling mistakes (did this on a fiddly mobile keyboard). Almost forgot to mention my increased hunger. Oh, and i'm a 44 year young male.

You need to go and have full blood tests done if you haven't already. That way, if you do have diabetes, it will be found. Your symptoms might, or might not, be diabetes. But you need to know as soon as possible if you have it as it must be treated.

+1 to what daisy said.
If you are having problems getting your doc to help/take you seriously, it might help to ask some very specific things. Eg say you would like to specifically check for diabetes and ask if you can have an HbA1c test, which will give a rough idea of your average blood sugar over the last few weeks.

Most GPs will have been taught that excessive thirst, urination and blurry vision suggest diabetes, so if you want to ensure they investigate your blood sugars, those are the symptoms that will most likely get them to order diabetes checks.

In the meantime, keep hydrated - keep drinking, but drink water or diet drinks, not full-sugar ones.
