Hi all,

I introduced myself a couple of weeks ago having been hanging around and reading the forum for a while before that. And having head my head in the sand for some 4 years before that!

Anyway, this is what I wanted to share...

Two weeks ago I embarked on a carb cutting exercise....

Just 14 days later and I'm seeing some long lost and fantastic numbers on my meter. Four days ago I hit my first 5, had another 4 in the 5s since then. My fasting has reduced from 14.4 on day 1 to 6.1 this morning!! I am stunned, grateful and enormously pleased. Oh, and I've dropped 9lb too!

I am trying to be realistic about my carbs, and reckon I'm averaging about 90g a day, depending on whether I get my morning cuppa at Costa Coffee or not (who knew there were so many carbs in a latte?!!)

My early success has been helped enormously by this forum, I am on here every day reading and learning and find it so so valuable, so thanks guys, definitely couldn't have done it without you!!

:D

Type 2, 2xmetformin, 1xramipril

Well done

Actually you are just echoing exactly what I said about a month ago with regard to my husbands T2. If only we had known this years ago, we could have saved him a lot of pain!

I was gobsmacked by the latte carbs too

Well done!

I am new to this forum also...You and many others on here give me much hope that I will conquer this.

That is great news :) me bit jealous :)
I do not understand why I am not getting such good readings. maybe my pancreas is trulyshot or something. Day 1 of week 1 i started with 14.5 fasting....week 2 was mostly in the 10s with one freakish 9.4...... and the weight loss has been moderate as well...

Well done you! I'm a bit jealous too!

I've been trying to low carb for about 3 weeks and still am not so low (Type2 - metformin)
I didn't know about "false hypos" so panicked a bit when I started "shaking inside" & bought a meter so now know that I occassionally hit 7.1 but usually approaching normal (ie non-diabetic) readings. I've never hit 4s though. I've lost 7lbs! :D

I have just read about "liver dumps". Would they cause raised BG in the morning? If so how do I avoid them?

Thanks for the head up re lattes as well. Did you know that Costa ALWAYS put syrup in their iced coffees and you have to ask to have a non-sugar one?
