Something weird is going on! Results are normal!

Something very strange is going on..... having had all the tests and diagnosed as type 2 and I've been on metformin since the 10th of April.

I've felt a lot better since taking the metformin and almost feel like myself again.

But as well as the recent diabetes I've had other issues. High blood pressure since November 2016, asthma and a potential heart problem that is being investigated after abnormalities on an ECG and a change from previous readings.

Had HbA1c of 46 then 48 & 48 so diagnosed as diabetic. I've been taking medication for my blood pressure since 2016 and had to change as it badly affected my asthma which wasn't really an issue beforehand. I've had breathing difficulties, chest pains and struggled to get upstairs and had been referred to a cardiologist due to potential heart issues. Consultant said heart symptoms had pointed towards coronary heart disease.

Then last Wednesday I had a pain in my chest that lasted a few seconds and disappeared and I felt as though something had been dislodged and instantly my breathing had improved and feels normal for the first time in 2 years.

Last Friday had coronary angiogram which showed no blockage and no significant build up of anything in my arteries, normal for my age. Also had an echo scan which I'm waiting for the results.

Saw the diabetic nurse for the first time yesterday..... she did all the tests including HbA1c which was 37 and normal and my blood pressure was 140/82 and normal.

I feel like since the chest pain last week and feeling as though something dislodged I am better!

Could this have been a blockage that's corrected itself and could it have caused high blood pressure and blood sugar??

Wow, that is some turnaround!

I'm afraid I haven't got a clue about your theory of a blockage. I think you might need a qualified medical opinion on that.
But I would like to say how great those results are.
Are they going to monitor you closely, to make sure that the change is stable?

I had heart issues too mate and I’ve been taking 4000mg garlic capsules also avoided saturated fats and foods high in cholesterol.

My heart has recovered thank goodness but I would say low-carbing and achieving a low HBA1C are the answers!

Well done!

It is very strange that a diet very low in saturated fats but high in polyunsaturated fats and trans fats plus the rise in highly processed foods combined with higher and higher carb values has seen a rise in CHD and CVD, don't you think? All of these changes in the last circa 50 years, I might add.

I had background retinopathy so I was advised by my endo to avoid saturated fats and foods high in cholesterol... for the time being.

We are all different!

I had background retinopathy. However, not having had the benefit of ever having seen an endocrinologist I was never given such advice. The diet/heart myth is a different animal, though.

I've got to go back and see the diabetic nurse in 3 months. And now I'm feeling better and have a some energy again I'm going to start exercising again and hopefully get some weight off again.

Fingers crossed

No alcohol, or fizzy pop for 8 weeks and I honestly can't remember the last time I felt this well .

Although I'm back at work tomorrow after a month off, so the feeling of wellbeing may be short lived

your endo obviously knows very little about cholesterol then..

@Steviechurch74 ive had heart issues too when I was a baby I was born with transposition of the greater vessels (basicly it’s where your heart is the wrong way round and blood can’t flow right) and more recently I’ve had a tachycardia heart rate I felt like my heart was fluttering and I was going to faint eventually doctors put a 3 week ECG on me (I can wear it at home when I’m out etc) but thankfully they found out what was wrong I’m now on beta blocker (btw did anyone else hear that beta blockers cause hypo unawareness?) Good luck and get well soon

I'm glad you are getting better. Thank you for your kind wishes, genuinely feel better than I have for years. Not 100% but I've improved massively in he last 2 weeks
