Songs for the forum

Wasn't going to have a look in - but glad I did - what memories are invoked with your choices.

Mine is 'Always on My Mind' written by Willie Nelson and made famous by Elvis.

Thanks to Ian D with 'The king of Love..........' - being a choirboy this was very close to being my most favourite
hymn and one that I used when first learning the Clarinet and Piano

Hee hee! Yeah I really liked Kate Bush, she was a bit off the wall but there was just something about her. I heard that she had quite a difficult life and didn't carry on with her career because of family responsibilities and so I put her biography DVD on my Lovefilm rental list about 8 months ago and I'm still waiting.
Oooooh and yesssss ... I love Barry White too.

And what about ...

This is a very old song that I loved and used to sing during my childhood when we watched Harry Seacombe on the box on Sunday evening!

Even though I was a child, the words had meaning for me and still do today.

IF I RULED THE WORLD
Tony Bennett
Words by Leslie Bricusse/Music by Cyril Ornadel

If I ruled the world, ev'ry day would be the first day of spring
Every heart would have a new song to sing
And we'd sing of the joy every morning would bring

If I ruled the world, ev'ry man would be as free as a bird,
Ev'ry voice would be a voice to be heard
Take my word we would treasure each day that occurred

My world would be a beautiful place
Where we would weave such wonderful dreams
My world would wear a smile on its face
Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams

If I ruled the world every man would say the world was his friend
There'd be happiness that no man coud end
No my friend, not if I ruled the world
Every head would be held up high
There'd be sunshine in everyone's sky
If the day ever dawned when I ruled the world.

They don't make songs like that any more.

That's all I can think of right now, probably not indicative of my age though, I listen to anything, from Classical to Metal, avoiding most modern pop though.
Most of these are Diabetes related in their titles, though some are good for the forum alone.
