soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
It doesn't have to be like that.
What Bg levels are you getting? High levels make you tired and Most people adapt to Metformin , although some find it difficult Talk it through with your doctor.

I am on mine for 2 weeks and I also get very tired, my readings would be similar to yours. I was putting it down to getting used to the medication and hope that I will get my energy back soon!

Having no energy as this is so limiting.
Hi Jason and welcome. :)

Just above one of your earlier posts (15th April on New Diabetic - help!) you may have seen a post from Sue which gave all the advice you will need to start you off on this journey along the diabetes path. You will note that the advice on the forum is significantly different to others and that is because it comes from the experience of people living with diabetes.

Have you been testing before your meals and 2 hours afterwards? You need to do that and if you combine it with keeping a food diary and noting the readings against the meals eaten you will soon see a pattern emerging. This will help you to make choices of what is safe for you to eat and what you need to cut down or out; portion size is also important. A carb counter book like Collins gem Carb Counter book will also help you to make wise food choices.

You need to be eating a good (for diabetes  ) diet as your medication will not sort it out for you on it's own.

If you need more info just ask since there is usually someone on here happy to help. :D

It will get better!! 8)

hi, i know what you mean about feeling tired. this happened to me as well, i was diagnosed three years ago. and i think its either because it's your body trying to recover the sleep you lost while waking up through the night to pee a drink etc. but it took my body a while to adjust to the insulin, i have to take two weeks off college because of it, and i didn't feel well for a number of weeks. I consider myself quite healthy now as i have quit smoking and taken up exercise. you don't have to let diabetes control your life. and it does get better as time progresses and you get used to taking you medication. I hope I have been of some help.
