I read something about Vitamin C and it's effect on sorbitol levels. It seemed to infer that it's good to keep the level of sorbitol down - so i'm wondering if eating stuff with sorbitol in it is ok, or should I be avoiding it. I know it's in some sweets and the sugarless chewing gum I like.

Does anyone know anything about sorbitol ? I've done a search on the web and haven't found much.

Also , (by the way) I haven't found any research indicating anything nasty about sucralose. I use Splenda tabs and the powder in cooking and i'd like to be aware of any news on it. If anyone has anything - i'd be grateful !

Cheers ! Ian.

There is a stem on this somewhere on the board - cannot remember where.

I havent found that many patients have had problems with bs and sorbitol but it is a laxative - when I first qualified it was used as one on the wards. So if you have more than 30g /day the bathroom will be busy! I dont like th after taste of it!

I also havent seen any problems with splenda and it is def the best for cooking as it provides bulk and doesnt taste bitter. The only negative account was actually yesterday - my teenage daughter sometimes uses it in coffee and she says it seems to make her throat sore!
