Sore fingers

Hi all,

I've been testing between 5-6 times a day and my fingers are getting so so sore! They're getting very bruised :(

Has anyone got any tips and tricks to help with testing?

Thank you x

Not sure if this helps but hopefully it will.

1.Change the position of where the lancing needle is on the finger, choose different fingers, and even use the sides of the finger rather than the finger pad itself.
2. set the lancing device to a setting that guarantees that a blood sample is available and if necessciary change to a finer lancing needle.
3.Warm the fingers before lancing in warm soapy water before lancing so as to improve blood flow, dry the hands properly, and if necessary coat the point where the sample is to be taken on the finger with the thinnest layer of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) This won't interfere with the B/G reading.
4.Always discard the first droplet that forms after lancing as this will often give a false and untrue reading, and having cleared this first droplet away in effect milk the finger so that another droplet is produced. (The first droplet may not be in the blood flow path and may have been static below the skin's surface - false level readings)
5.Keep the hand held down after the initial lancing so as to aid the blood droplet to initially form.

Just be grateful you have 2 hands to test.. After breast cancer mastectomy you can not test on the side of mastectomy or use the arm for injecting any more...
