Hi all ive got another moan again. This time my poor thumb kept hurting especially every morning when i woke up.It was like it was locked and really hurt when i tried to straighten it.Doctor said it could be trigger thumb(ive never heard of it) and as usual "because you have diabetes it could be the cause"Anyway he gave me painkillers which have done no good at all so ive got to go back this week i was wondering if anyone else has had anything like this.I also told my nurse in clinic that i was unhappy with my lantus and could i change to something else and she said i dont think you can!i only wanted to try another long lasing insulin to see if it could be lantus causing all my aches and pains. :?

Oh you poor thing, I know someone who has trigger thumb and she is a diabetic too, its very painful too she said, what is your diabetic control like?
Unfortunately it is true that this condition is quite common in diabetics also rheumatoid arthritis and other similar ailments, as if we dont have enough to put up with already, grrrrrr

I did a quick search on google on this condition, there is loads of info there
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... =&aq=f&oq=

You said that you would like to change to another insulin, did the doctor explain why you wont be able to do that? If not then go back, you are at least owed an explanation for this refusal and dont put up with a 'because I say so, I am a doctor...'

I hope you get better soon.

I had a very similar problem with a very painful middle finger on my left hand-I went to the GP on 3 occasions and was fobbed off with a variety of painkillers which did nothing at all. In the end I went back and saw a different GP who was more sympathetic and I had a cortisone injection and within 36 hours the pain went completely. I sympathise for you-its very painful and like you, I was constantly told it was due to diabetes-I hope you get it sorted

Hi Louise5967, i am glad your finger is ok now.I cant believe all the different things we get as well as our diabetes.I have been very lucky in my 39 years with type 1 so i cant really grumble but when i do get certain things wrong i get very angry :x like frozen shoulder which i had an operation for about 4 years ago .i suffered for about 2 years before they found out what it was and had physio etc which made it worse then the operation.I was in hospital for about 6 days and its brilliant now.But as i said before everything i go to doctor with he says "oh its because of your diabetes"
