Hi

One issue I have with Diabetes is that cuts, sores, grazes etc take a looong time to heal :?

I picked up athletes foot on one toe but it is deep (rest of foot ok) so I went for that Lamisil Once treatment (had to tell a lie to the pharmacist when he asked if I was diabetic) and it hasn't worked.

It is back even worse...

Do I need to be careful about my feet?

Any suggestions?

Hi tw.

First of all, why on earth did you lie to the Pharmacist ?

Lamisil has many interactions with other drugs and numerous side effects which could all cause you serious harm !! The Pharmacist is better informed than you or I about the interactions and therefore you should ALLWAYS tell them what drugs you are taking. There are many over the counter medications I am not allowed to take because of my other prescription drugs.

The non-improvement could also be down to a side effect of Lamisil. It might be a reaction to it ?You need to go to your GP and discuss this ASAP.

Ken.

Contact the podiatry department at your local hospital. They should be able to help you.
Plus, the better your BG control, the better you will heal. It's the high levels of sugar in blood, which delay healing. Try to keep near 5 at all times.

Believe it or not - drinking LOADS of water has always helped cuts and scratches heal quickly for me. Usually overnight. By LOADS, I mean 2 to 3 litres a day.

Patch
since normal blood volume is about 4litres, diluting your blood with loads of water, will lower your Bg and send you to the loo.

 Yeah point taken Ken, I doubt that he would have recommended it because of the interactions.

Serves me right I guess cos' it didn't work.

Thanks for the advice everyone..
