Apologies if this will bore you, trying to get LCHF right. I am a little concerned I am eating too much fat. Would you mind having a look at what I have eaten today and advise me please.

Breakfast: 1 medium egg, 20 gm cheddar, 1 tblspoon of single cream 1 table spoon of butter 4 cherry toms and mushrooms made this up as an omelette and put 1/2 advocado on the side.

Lunch: skipped

Dinner: 2 slices belly pork 200 gm cauliflower mash with 1 tblspoon butter and broccoli

Beverages through out day 3 coffees with 1 tablespoon of single cream in each. Water in between

Thank you muchly

I dont think you eat too much fat, but it is hard to change ones brain to accept that higher amounts of fats are really good for diabetics , for our hormonal system and for our brain... maybe only think of getting different kinds of fats , especially the omega 3´s from fatty fish that are so substantial for brain healt and against inflamation and also are claimed to prevent heart conditions too and lower cholesterol if one also want to do that.
I eat around 100-200 grams of fats a day... more than I have ever eaten daily in my whole life I think...

the avocado is also a fine choice

You are so right, always gone low fat for years, I think it was eating the belly pork, I have not eaten this for over 30 years and was a little alarmed at all the fat coming out. I do eat fish 2-3 times per week. I struggle to think about fat as being acceptable. I am very, new to this, as I suppose everyone here once was. I do appreciate feed back. Do you count your vegetables (I did) as part as your carb in take? Thanks for replying

Hi Beth,

Those meals sound perfect to me. We were all indoctrinated about how fat is bad for us, but the tide has turned. We have to get rid of the brainwash and embrace it. There is no need to go overboard with it if you don't want to, and you are doing the right thing in measuring everything initially. You will soon get used to judging amounts and portion sizes on a plate. It is all a matter of balance - the lower your carbs the more fats you need to make up the lost energy to avoid fatigue. Your body will soon convert to burning fat rather than glucose and you will feel the benefits.

Oily fish is the best food, plenty of salmon, tuna, mackerel etc. Don't forget nuts (in moderation), olive oil, and some berries if you want fruit. And if you like a drink, a glass of red wine is very medicinal. It is full of heart healthy antioxidants. Just watch the calories from the wine though.

Sorry to change subject does anyone know which is best for long haul flights, diabetic or ordinary meal. Thanks
