Hello again!

Well I posted a while ago that I was feeling rubbish despite much improved diabetes control and was basically totally exhausted with a few other things like gaining weight, memory problems, brain feeling like mush, persistent pins and needles. I reluctantly saw my GP about 6 weeks ago as I get a bit embarrassed going and he did a thyroid test which came back with a TSH of 5.7 (ref 0.4-4.9) and t4 of 13.9 (ref 12-22). The GP said nothing to worry about maybe retest in a few months.

I then had an appointment with my endo where I mentioned the tiredness and he looked at the TSH and did say that there was a high risk of hashimotos so would retest and do thyroid antibodies before my next appointment which is 2nd July.

I am still feeling rubbish and because I'm generally a bit nosy I did one of the myrios home tests when you send a sample off to them and they send you results back. This test came back today and TSH on this one is 11.64 (ref 0.24-4.20) and t4 still in range at 14.0 (ref 12-22). It's still not technically hypothyroid but is this enough to be making me feel so rubbish?

I'm probably too embarrassed to admit to my GP that I did the test myself and I still don't know if they would do anything, but should I swallow my pride and go back, or just hold out until my endo appointment in July? I'm just so tired and getting fed up, if this is why at least it feels like there is hope that something can be done. But at the same time 'official' sources like NHS site say that without lowered T4 it's not really hypo and shouldn't be causing symptoms. Just hoping someone might have some input/suggestions!

Since 2003 the band for TSH is between 0.3 and 3.0. Anything higher needs to be addressed in some way, like starting a low dose of levothyroxine. I would back to your GP? Your pituitary gland is having to work overtime in order to get your thyroid to produce hormones.
