Sorting myself out

I've decided I really need to sort myself out. I've been lazy and not bothering to take my insulin, been eating junk and having bg readings consistently over 15. I even had a 22 last week.

I saw an advert for the freestyle libre sensor and a 14 day free trial so I signed up. Been wearing it 4 days now and I have to say its changed everything.

The ability to just scan whenever I want to know what my bg is doing is fantastic. My readings haven't gone above 9 for the last 3 days solid, including when I'm asleep. They're the lowest readings I've had for over a year.

I'm hoping I can get it on the NHS. Game changer!

Anyone else had similar experiences?

I am not sure but I was under the impression that as a Type 1 you would be entitled for Freestyle Libre prescription anyway.

I do agree that having the ability to see trends does make a difference. A word of caution though, the readings on Libre may not be as accurate as those from finger prick so it will be good if you still check with finger prick atleast twice a day.

You could also use some third party apps which allow for calibration of reading from sensors. I have two posts on the subject if you would like to read more about it.
Hope this helps. :)

Not all T1’s automatically get a libra on prescription. I self fund as I’m not eligible. My control is too good & I still produce some insulin.

Trouble is I put my good control down to the libra. Having it from practically day 1 meant I could get things under control very quickly & stay in a good place.
