They say soya is a good source of protein especially if you are vegetarian. I mostly only eat chicken myself so I do use use Quorn mince for things like cottage pie and homemade burgers and I do like Alpro soya milk to drink . I have read on this forum that some people will not eat soya products and I was wondering if it is not considered to be good for those with diabetes

The reason I won't eat soy is that unless it is fermented (as in traditional cultures like Japan), it is one of the most processed foods on the planet. It's also increasingly coming from GMO sources, especially for those living in the US. It also has quite potent oestrogenic effects, so why it's being fed to any children (let alone male children) in formula is beyond insane.

I was just meaning that you are not eating as much soya as you think if you are eating quorn mince and not soya mince. I like mycoprotein and eat it a lot. It's personal choice really.

Thanks I do understand now I do use the Quorn more than the soya mince from H&B

Can you tell me if Tofu is fermented soy as I do eat that as well

No idea - it probably also depends on whether it's made in a traditional manner or if it's a Westernised frankenfood version of it.

Most soy milk usually has an additive called carrageenan (407a) which some believe is very disruptive to the gut lining.

Carrageenan has been used for centuries in some cultures and and in commercial production on a large scale since the 1930's..it is made from red seaweed.. It is used as a thickner in many foods including dairy and as a alternative to gelatine for vegans and vegetarians it is also used in cosmetics and skin creams lotions, shampoos, toothpaste and even beer so we probably all have something in our cupboards and fridges that contains it. .As with everything else some people may not be able to tolerate it but studies have not found anything conclusive that is can cause health problems
