Spiking sugars

It doesn't seem to help at times, had novorapid 15 mins before etc, but even a milky coffee sets my sugars off. What are you're views on novorapid. What else is out there?

Hi @A17

I'm not on novorapid personally but I have heard it called novosluggish by some.

Depending on your location there are plenty of other bolus insulins available (I believe some people use fiasp instead of novorapid?) and I'm happy with my humalog.

I haven't used novorapid myself so I'll let some other T1s weigh in.

I've been told this week that the NHS will not be supplying Novorapid to us anymore and we will now use a Sanofi insulin which I have been told is the same type of insulin but is cheeper ,

When I used NovoRapid I found I had to inject much longer than 15 minutes before eating to prevent high spikes.
I'm on Fiasp now, and I tried Lyumjev as well, and I found both work quicker for me than NovoRapid.

I was previously on Novorapid and had been for all of my diabetes life as far as I am aware (24 ish years). My blood sugars post lunch were awful though. I was injecting sometimes 30-45 minutes before eating and I’d still spike horribly.

I moved onto Lyumjev last year and it has been so much better. I inject around 5 minutes before I eat and no longer have post lunch spikes. Fiasp is the same as Lyumjev as far as I’m aware with the fast working so either one would be better.

I was also told that you could expect that when injecting Lyumjev or Fiasp it may sting. It doesn’t always sting me but it does sometimes and my sites do tend to get more sore. I am on an insulin pump though. But not everyone experiences this side effect.
