Spreading Sedition

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I am a fervent low carber. It's certainly been the saving of me. with good BG control and weight loss.
Today I encountered a diabetic woman at the Sports Centre, where I'd been for my water work-out.
She's just been upped to 4x metformin 500s per day, because her numbers are too high. Hb A1c 7.9%. She's not allowed to home test. She's also got an appointment to see the dietician this week and doesn't think that will help much as her own degree is in Food and Nutrition. she agrees that the high wholegrain diet she's been told to follow just won't work (sorry Ally555!) and is interested to see what she's told.
I've arranged to meet up with her at the same time next week and then I'll make sure I have paper and pencil handy, to put her on to this group and Bernst4ein and Mendosa. I usually leave my handbag locked in the boot of my car at the centre and take coffee money in my pocket and my pass in my swimming bag.
I had real fun prancing around today in my official "Sport Reading" Tee shirt. I've been a volunteer walk leader (fully qualified) for a couple of years and they've just given me the Tee shirt and waterproof jacket with all the logos on. I'm so proud of it.

Hi hanadr,

You're a proper evangelist, you are!
If you're diabetic friend has a degree in Food and Nutrition, was she educated to believe in the carbohydrate based diet idea too? It would be interesting to see how her dietician's views correspond to her own understanding, to see whether things have changed over time.

What next for you? Can I get you a sandwich board, or would that be a bit too ironic?

All the best,

fergus

Hi fegus!
I already have "Sport Reading" on my front and "Walk Leader" on my back.

Not allowed...!! And I thought I had problems merely being strongly discouraged from testing  If you really want to help this person and spread some serious sedition at the same time then persuade her to buy a meter and teach her how to use it. If she starts to learn what is going on inside her body, maybe she can get this thing under control.
