Hi all,
I was put on insulin in December, before then I was on max oral meds which caused significant issues after being on them so long.
I was doing 28 units of Lantus, 8 units of Novarapid breakfast/8 lunch/10 dinner. I would generally wake with a higher reading at between 9-10mmol/L but during the day my numbers would be between 4-7mmol. I was however, gaining some weight being put on insulin (currently 13 stone).
Anyway, prior to insulin - I never ate lunch. Just breakfast and then dinner. Due to weight gain and an experiment, I have now cut out lunch again (with no dose of insulin mid-day). Not only have my waking readings gone down dramatically (5-7), my blood sugar throughout the day constantly stays between 4-5 until I eat dinner which is where it goes to between 5-8 post meal (2 hours).
