ive been diagnosed for a fair few years as type 2 and was in total denial until earlier this year....DN only recommended more pills, and no testing.
This forum provided superb starting help, I amtrying to go with low carb high fat....and without a doubt I see some movement on my blood sugar has happened....I
But I've not lost any weight for three months AND I can't seem to get my bs down.....
Feb 17 I was 109mmol only on metformin having taken myself off gliclacide (spelling?) due to horrible side effects. Planned to lose a load of weight to help blood sugar ....initially I went from 76kg to 70 but haven't lost anything since
I have been testing for a few months ...started 15 plus ( probably loads more. I used to eat chocolate biscuits, crisps, potatoes , pasta) but I am now ranging from 12 down to 10 , the lowest I've got to is 8, but I can easily spike up to 16 ....
Today this am was bs 12.5 .....
breakfast 1/2 Lidl protein roll toasted, half with butternut and marmite , half with almond butter and a fresh fig . Before lunch bs 11.9
Lunch half Lidl roll toasted with tomatoe salsa, two celery sticks and humous, slice of lemon drizzle cake (yes I know that's bad)" before supper bs 12.5
Spag Bol minus pasta replaced by cabbage, strawberries and cream and cinnamon, handful of dark chocolate coffee beans
Two hours later bs 12.5
i have been known to snack on hula hoops, square of Boursin, handful of dry roasted peanuts...
When I think back to what I used to eat , I don't get why I haven't lost weight.
I love food, use it as a crutch for all moods, struggling to work out how to move forward.....I appreciate I'm no saint....but some positive guidance would be so welcomed.

If you go through all that you have eaten today and add up the carbs you may be surprised at just how many you have eaten. A lot of the foods listed are very high in fat and calories as well. You may be one of those people, like me, that has to go very low carb to control BS and lose weight. I cannot eat more than about 30 grams in a day and try to stick to under 20. One way to find out what your tolerance is is to stick to 20 per day for a month then gradually add in 5 grams per week until you stop losing or your BS goes up then back it down a bit to maintain. High fat combined with too many carbs for your system to handle is about the worst combo ever. I hope this helps.

Hi @anderson3000 ..
I agree with @chalup above .. you are taking in too any carbs and I think that you need to re-focus your LCHF strategy. I suggest that you read up on the discussion on the Low Carb Diet forum .. together with the following Diet Doctor websites, which will give you all the info that you need on what and what not to eat ...
Low Carb Intro and Information and Low Carbs in 60 Seconds

My LCHF lifestyle is based upon 16:8 IF (intermittent fasting) which means that I only eat between 11.00am and 7.00pm and I follow three simple "rules" ..
# Only eat real food
# Only eat when hungry
# Stop eating when full

Hope this helps
