Wasnt quite sure how to word the title but for those that have gone from meds to insulin (type2) what happens from the point that you are sat in GP office & meds no longer work, I'm not happy about having my meds increased but i get that might happen before insulin, currently on 80mg gliclazide & 10mg Farxgia, I had to drop metformin as I cannot get on with it anymore, I'm not liking what I am hearing regards other types so I am debating if I should ask to be put on insulin when i see my GP next week, last A1c a week ago was 9.2 this is despite eating less than 20mg of carbs per day

First, don't dismiss the possibility you are a LADA and not T2. If you are slim then ask for the tests for it. I was on Metformin SR, then Gliclazide going up to 320mg and then Sitagliptin before they stopped working. None of these tablets gave me any problems but they finally didn't do anything so then insulin (after at first being refused it by my GP). Insulin was salvation so try the tablets but give up and move to insulin earlier rather than later if they fail.

I'm much healthier on insulin. Less time off (work). Awake time is huge compared to my tablet only days. My life is more participating on insulin.
If I had recent severe palpatations or gallbladder difficulties on metformin only days I would have not visited gp and went to bed and stayed their. Insulin has saved my life. For sure.
