Starting Insulin pump

I'm currently on MDI. Ive been offered a pump and will be starting in just over 1 week. Not sure if I need to take time off work. What did everyone else do?

I was a bit worried hows my BG levels will be initially. good to know that extra time of is not necessary. i can't wait
 
Hia - I got my pump in November. I attended a few Pre-pump appointments and then I did go home when they fitted it just to take it all in and read the manuals etc. I imagine if they're able to get your basal rates sorted out quite quickly then you'll be ok. Unfortunately mine are taking a bit of working out (plus I've had a couple of illnesses to boot) so I still have to see my DSN when we can't sort it out by e-mail and electronic transfer of my pump data.

I do find that as its quite a lot to take in it has impacted on my work as its a bit 'all-consuming' to begin with - especially when the blood sugars are not levelling as quickly as I hoped they would. But, as the old adage on here goes, we're all different :lolno: I'm sure you'll be fine and you'll get very attached to it quickly (in more ways than one!) it's growing on me and I wouldn't go back to injections now.
 
Ive got two appointments,the first is to, I assume explain how the pump works and start with a saline solution, then back the following weeks to start on insulin and that it. Both are group appointment for 2.5 hours. I will also be on the VEO Medtronic pump. I have looked on their website and also called them of more info. They were really helpful, they mentioned that theres a remote control, a Bayer meter is included with the pump which reads your BG. All sounds quite promising
