I have been type 2 diet controlled for about 7 years and in the past year have had Hab1c readings 6.6, 7.3, 6.5, 6.6, 6.9 and 7.2
every time I have visited the Dr (private as we were not covered under the Spanish health system) he said everything was ok and to keep on doing what I was. I am diet controlled, the only medication I take is an asprin once a day.
My last reading showed, yet again, a high liver count, no I do not drink, maybe 1 glass of red wine in the past 3 months. I was sent for another liver scan, this time it showed clear liver/pancreas but that my kidneys had started to change (fatty deposits I think it was) so I was sent to a kidney specialist who has ordered more blood tests and urine test (first one i have had since being pregnant 30 years ago) I go back next week with my results and she will then tell me what medication I need to take. She was surprised I had never been put onto medication before as I have a bad family history of type 2, my father died at 69 with gangrene in both feet, he had been a smoker since he was about 14 years old and continued to smoke heavily after being diagnosed as diabetic and my brother died at 62 years with complete renal failure, totally blind and had just had a leg amputated. But I count myself lucky, I knew I was IGT for about 8 years so I was aware that I could be ´going over´ to the other side
We have been accepted into the Spanish health system (the rules changed recently) I went to see the Dr at the medical center and she said to carry on as I was, no medication needed. I told her I was going to see the kidney specialist as a private patient, I will go back to the local GP and tell them I am now on medication.
The reason I get a high liver count is not known, the Dr in the UK had thought I was possibly an alcoholic
He came to the conclusion that my liver did not like being starved. He said had my count been that high all the time I would have had very yellow skin and eyes. I have had a blood test for hepatitis and all of the types I was clear, phew!
It will be interesting with the next blood test results. Has anyone here had odd liver count readings for no reason? :?:
