Statins and Blood Sugar

I recently stopped taking my statins (getting cramps and want to see if stopping Statins helps that). After a week or so I noticed I was starting to get more hypo s- at all times of the day. I've been tweaking my basal rates and bolus doses - my basal rates are now at least 20% below what they were a couple of weeks ago.

Anyone have any experience of either going off statins and finding BG fall (less insuling needed), or going on them and finding BG rises (more insulin needed)?

Its quite well known in Type 2's that statins can cause elevated blood sugar levels.. which does make it seem odd that they are regularly prescribed...
