Statins & diet

I work a shift pattern of 4 on then 4 off.
I do 2 early shifts 7 am until 7pm then 2 night shifts 7pm until 7am.
I take 80mg of simvastatin to be taken in the evening as the medication works better when I am sleeping.
My concern is that when working my night shift and taking the said medication before I start work is not having the desired affect.
I am also having to eat through the night having already eaten during the day thus having concerns about my calorie intake etc.
My last blood test came back 7.1 and this has not changed since the previous test 4 months ago.
I am to have my next set of bloods in 4 months time.
I am taking metformin.
Can someone please advise me on the above?

Kindest regards

Finally they have admitted it!

I would say definitely discuss it with the GP and ask either to have your dose lowered or even to change to one of the others. Take the reference for the article with you

I managed to get muscle problems on 10mg of simvastatin. Others can take it with no problems at all.

Maybe better to take it at the same time every night regardless of what shift you're on? Your body clock will still be running "normally", even if you are awake. Discuss it with your doctor.
