Statins

Hi Amberella,

A cholesterol level of 5 is regarded as low risk for heart disease, so the only reason your GP will want to prescribe them is the bonus he gets paid for each patient he can get onto statins under the new government targeting system!

I was prescribed Simvastitin although my cholesterol was 4.7. I think they are paid to get us to take them! Having said that my cholesterol is now 2.6. I have never had any muscle pains. The only side effect I seem to have is that my IBS has calmed down considerably. The doctor has no idea why as statins aren't known to have this effect. I used to have to take Immodium twice a week (the Metformin was partly responsible but some foods are to be avoided). I now only have to take it maybe 2 -3 times a month. A great improvement and much lighter on my purse too!
