Hi

Looking for a bit of advice; have a quite severe respiratory illness treated with recurrent courses of Prednisolone (usually 3-4 times each year)

Last couple of times I have noticed symptoms such as thirst and needing to pee a lot. I purchased a blood glucose monitor and notice high blood glucose levels especially after meals (on waking usually 5-6.5) and after meals between 8 and 15.

All resolves again when I stop the Prednisolone; HbA1c is 34.

Anyone else on Prednisolone experience this? How do you manage it

Thanks

just want to welcome you here, and tell you that your numbers really are not that bad.... maybe lower your amounts of carbs in your foods and your meals won´t raise you that much..

I have been taking Prednisolone a long time and am now diabetic. Preds do raise blood sugar levels. But as has been said if you adjust your carbs accordingly it may help.

It was put to me that the risk of becoming diabetic was out weighed by the benefits of the meds regarding my MG.

And I must if I am honest agree.
