Question not of earth-shattering importance but I'd like to know what other members do. I did a search and no-one has asked this question, is it because its so silly? :)

When you do a finger-prick blood test do you put a sticking plaster on afterwards, and if so how long do you leave it on for? They always put one on at the doctor's after they have done the HbA1c test.

Is it useful or not? I am using so many.

I never bother with plaster, just mop with a tissue. Put pressure on for a few seconds. If it's bleeding a lot, try setting your "stabber" a bit shallower.

I just stick my finger in my mouth and after a second or two it has stopped. Never used a plaster, it's only a pinprick.

Ken

That's an interesting one Ken. I never thought of that! :)

Looks like I have been wasting money all this time  Thanks Sue :)

I'm a licker too! :D

I've neevr been given a plaster at the docs, usually it's a tissue or a bit of cotton wool.

Last time I went the nurse stuck my finger so hard it bled for over an hour :( I was rooting around my handbag for a tissue while trying to plug the bleeding with the tiny bit of cotton wool she gave me!

Thanks Dollyrocker. :) Now I know how to do it! But doesn't blood taste nasty :?:

My Accuchek multiclix only makes a pinprick ,just enough to test and a wipe with a bit of cotton wool or tissue and there is no more blood. In fact you can hardly see where the prick has been.
CAROL

Carol, thanks. :) That is the case with my Microlet too. I think I will use a tissue in future.
Not too keen on the idea of licking the blood off.

Is it finger-lickin' good then or not? I haven't plucked up courage to try yet. But it would be
more convenient if I could bring myself to lick too :) Like finger pricking the first time is the
hardest. The second time is easy.
