Hi and welcome. I try and limit the amount of coffee I drink and choose flavoured water or unsweetened almond milk. There is a lot of information on the forum about it...you might find this helpful....http://www.diabetes.co.uk/food/what-can-i-drink.html Cutting down your overall carbohydrates will help a lot to bring your BG levels down and maybe even lose some weight if you want or need to. It takes a bit of getting used to with all the changes in diet but you will probably feel a lot healthier for it and have the added bonus of it bringing your levels down too. There are differing opinions on wether coffee is bad for us as shown here http://www.diabetes.co.uk/food/coffee-and-diabetes.html I am sure other members will have far more helpful advice for you and alternatives you can have :)

Thanks the weight is certainly coming off lost 10lbs in last couple of weeks already and lose 4lb more before I return to my Dr next week

Wow well done you :) I have also lost a lot and have now reached the stage where I need to stop any more weight loss. I eat low carb and higher protein/fat....adding good fats to my food to replace what I lose in carbs for energy. Never thought I would see the day I didn't cut the fat off my bacon or that I would eat and cook with butter.

Try lactose free or almond milk in your coffee, or even better if you're low carbing, use cream!

You should definitely drink plenty of water, and can try any drinks with a very low carb or sugar content: e.g.
  • herbal or green tea - more or less no carbs in these and no need for milk with them
  • sugar free coke or juices, etc, but check labelling both for carbs/sugar and nasty chemicals, and use your meter to test
  • homemade fresh lemonade with a diabetic friendly sweetener such as stevia, erythritol or (if in a no-dog household!) xylitol
  • some spirits and red wine may be OK in moderations (but do some searching/homework regarding alcohol, and again, use your meter) - but definitely NO beer
