Hi. I was diagnosed about 4 years ago and I've been on insulin for almost a year. Following a lowish carb diet and my hba1c is 48 so I feel I'm doing pretty well. Recently I've had several episodes of getting unnaturally full when eating/drinking to the point that I inevitably end up vomiting. On those days I also feel exceptionally fatigued. It's not that frequent, maybe happens about once a month. Wondering if anyone has similar experiences or might it be entirely unrelated to my diabetes?

have you checked ketones compared to your normal nutritional ketones?

I checked last night when I was experiencing this and they were in the normal range. My glucose was plummeting at the time from being sick [i had to take on a lot of sugar to stabilise], but ketones were just 0.3.

Yes, I have a similar issue and had tests done which showed that my stomach was emptying slowly of solids (liquids are not a problem). I wasn’t prescribed any treatment for it but told to delay my insulin injections by ten minutes or so. As another person mentioned, it’s called gastroparesis. I don’t know what I can do to stop the vomiting, it takes up hours of my day when it happens.

T1 for over 40 years and a few months ago had a similar issue. I had excessive bloating after eating a meal, hours later I couldn’t digest food and ended up being sick and then spent most of the night trying raise my BG (all the dextrose in the world couldn’t raise my BG). The same symptoms occurred thereafter for several days.

I also eat a relatively low carb diet (100g max per day). My Hba1c has been ~34 for years, so deduced that maybe gastroparesis starting due to longevity of having T1. Visited GP who suggested it was likely just gastritis and prescribed a months worth of esomeprazole and Acidex Advance. In fairness, this did help settle the bloating and improve the condition, so maybe something to try? On the flip side, I have noticed it reoccurring again this week, so probably will try the same approach to reduce inflammation.

I also spend hours sometimes trying to raise my glucose..I had 90g of fast acting last night and it took about 2 hours to come up from 3.2mmol/l. Left a message with my diabetes team this morning so I'll see what they say.
