Hi, I have been type one diabetic for over 20 years. Over the past 4 years ive been getting stomach issues (pain, bloating etc) and wondering if it could be related to my diabetes. I have been trying to see if I can identify the triggers and seems either Carbohydrates or sugar is the issue. I obviously try not to eat much of these but it seems even the smallest amount can leave me in pain for days. Is this common for a type 1 diabetic? Or something unrelated? Any suggestions for help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I’ve personally never experienced anything like this and if it were me I would be talking to my doctor as it could be any number of things and what it is for one person may not be for another. Best of luck!

I had the same problems with an uncomfortable gut for years but recently gave up taking statins and lo and behold my problems have gone .

I would talk to a doctor about this.
While it is not a complication of diabetes that I have heard of (but I am not medically trained so), my first thought was maybe it is another autoimmune condition like coeliac. It not not unusual for autoimmune conditions (like Type 1) to gather together.
