I am Diabetes type 2 and also went through the not wanting to know stage and feeling very low and confused. WhitbyJet is the expert on low carb cooking and posts loads of luvverly recipes. I used to always feel hungry and ate vast amounts of chocolate and other high carb food. Since lower carbing (approx. 70g a day) my hunger all the time has disappeared except for when I am due a proper meal. I never feel the need to snack.I take metformin SR 2x500
Your readings are above the recommended level and I would not personally feel happy with any between 10-11. As it is I'm trying to reduce mine and I am currently aiming for the recommended levels of 4-7 fasting and less than 8.5 2hrs after a meal.
I bought my own meter and strips and tested often when I started- at least pre-meal and + 2 hours. I now add extra tests in when trying a new food. Today I tried a satsuma.The first for eons. So tested just before and 1hr, 2hr afterwards. Fruit used to have a drastic affect on my BS but I can eat the odd piece now and again because I mainly low carb (a satsuma is 9g) Any bread other than Burgen if bought or home made low carb varieties still raises my BS levels very quickly and this lasts for hours. Wholemeal toast for me is a big no no-much as I love it.
