I have bad reactions to medication due to fibromyalgia. Has anybody ever just stopped all medications and just tried diet and exercise alone ?

Hi. I'm surprised all medications give problems due to fibromyalgia? I see you are on Levemir and once had a very high HBa1C. At that diagnosis level it would cause very serious problems to stop taking any meds? Whilst some people with Type 2 due to being overweight can by diet and exercise avoid taking any meds, normally once insulin is prescribed you have no choice. What meds are giving you problems?

One of the symptoms of Fibro is hypersensitivity to meds? I get a buzz off paracetamol. The metformin made my IBS unbearable. Have just finished Victoza which gave me bad stomach ache along with eggy burps and vomiting of awful stuff .. this was on the 0.6 low dose as I never made it to the full dose. Have now gone back on 4 units of Levemir and am feeling spaced out (not hypo) anxious, and quite breathless.

I tried before I accepted meds and it did not make a difference for me. I actually kept gaining weight at abnormal quantities. I have had a long run in the past 1 1/2 years. I have had horrible reactions to every single med the doctor has prescribed. I have had fibro for 12 years now and I absolutely hate taking meds because most of the times they make me feel more sick than better. Metformin put me in the hospital. From there on have been reaction after reaction to everything. 2 weeks ago we decided to try Victoza an I was feeling great, besides some cramping on my arms and legs. I started with .6 and when I went to 1.2 my muscles started to get extreme pain. 3 days ago I couldn't walk without limping because of the amount of pain. My doctor says is not a reaction, however, I stopped 2 days ago and the pain is slowly going away. If the pain goes away completely I will consider another doctor simply because my reaction was dismissed as something else.

I don't know how out of control your diabetes is, but I have not met one single person who is full blown diabetic who has been able to manage it completely with diet and exercise.
