Hi Ragazza,
Metformin only reduces your blood sugars by a minimal amount but has other benefits, helps protect your heart and also helps with insulin resistance.

Hi ragazza.

As Catherine stated, Metformin has other benefits which need to be taken into account.
You should not stop or start any medication without first discussing it with your GP at least.
Self medication is not a good idea.

Hi Ragazza,

I couldn't agree more with what the others have said. Plus of course a morning reading of 8.2 is pretty high so simply proves that he isn't ready to drop metformin.

Agreed, it's a good drug so long as you don't get side effects. It's one I'd be very inclined to stay on if I'd ever been offered it.
