my son stupidly left my fridge door slightly ajar for over an hour today, I run it at 20 degrees, would this have affected my Byetta 10 pen.

regards, pauline

Byetta dosnt now need to be in the fridge after initial dispensing by pharmacy. I think most still keep in the fridge though. The optimal temp range is given in the leaftlet and in most instances cool will suffice

As Dave says, Byetta once in use doesn't need to be stored in a fridge.

The unopened packages are meant to be stored in a fridge at a temp. of between 2 to 8 deg.C.
Once in use the Byetta pen does not need to be refrigerated. Store below 25 deg.C.
Do not allow the pen to freeze. If it does freeze - do not use !

With the weather being very hot here in the Midlands today I was forced to put the pen in a cool place to stop it overheating. If it does get damaged then you would most likely find that the effect would diminish and by testing you should be able to see that. If in doubt contact your Pharmacist for further advice and possible replacement.

Ken.

Hi Pauline,

As Dave and Ken have said, it shouldn't be a problem. I keep mine in the fridge but that is out of habit - in the early days we were told that you must keep it chilled at all times and the habit has stuck! Before first use, a pen should remain chilled, but once a pen has been primed ready for use it can be stored at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C, or 77°F).
