Strange fasting readings

First time I've posted on here, but I had some weird readings today and wondered if anyone had had the same experience. I've been testing since late June, always in the morning before breakfast and the readings are usually in the 5-7 range, averaging monthly about 6.2. I've had 2 days recently where I've had a very high first reading which then plummets over the next hour.

I went to bed late last night, no alcohol, a bag of crisps about an hour before and my readings have been as follows:
00.48 - 5.9
06.25 - 10.2
07.09 - 7.4
07.36 - 7.6
07.55 - 7.2
then I had breakfast

On 20th December they were:
06.29 - 8.9
07.03 - 8.6
07.42 - 7.9
13.17 - 8.0 just after lunch
14.27 - 7.7
15.25 - 6.4
17.12 - 4.0 just before a cup of tea and some (sugar free) flapjack type thing
18.25 - 6.6
23.24 - 7.8
08.31 - 5.7 following morning

Are these normal type readings (mmol/l, freestyle optimum)?

Just to add, on metformin, liraglutide and gliclazide, no insulin

I am not on any medication so hopefully someone else may know about their effects..

It would appear to me that the crisps pushed your blood sugars up the following morning.
As for the 20th. December, you do not say what your snack or last meal was before going to bed.

It could all be due to the dawn phenomenon.

Not much help but it will bump your post up for others to include their views.
 
As I have mentioned on other threads I have noticed that if I have any carbs in the evening then my morning reading is higher than it is if I don't have carbs in the evening.

Furthermore, if I don't have carbs for a number of evenings then my morning reading continues getting lower until it bottoms out in the low 5's. Highest reading after a barbecue with wine etc reached 8 and then took some days (most of a week) to bring back down.

I would expect a higher reading if I went to bed with a packet of crisps or similar.
 
These could be my readings... Random and slightly high, with a bit of dawn phenomenon thrown in.
My first reading of the day is rarely below 8, usually in the high 9's. I've tried not eating before bed, I've tried eating before bed, I've tried eating something carby before bed, and have tried taking my metformin right before bed... the reading stays as it is. I reckon if I got up at 4am, I'd have the perfect reading before my liver dumps it's early morning glucose into my system.

In the evening after not much since lunch, feeling a bit low and not facing cooking, I went for a burger and chips from the local place (not a chain). Plenty of unhealthy stuff plus a few glasses of red wine (and a metformin)

18.59 - 4.7 just before eating
19.41 - 6.9
20.19 - 6.6
21.00 - 6.7 all looking good 2 hours after eating
22.05 - 10.3
23.12 - 12.8
23.57 - 14.7
06.26 - 6.3 - back to normal

Time for a day or two of low carbs I think! Back to cutting out bread and tatties

By the way, 2 fingers on my left hand are stinging a bit today - I wonder why:)
