Strange pattern of glucose readings

Hi

I’ve got multiple health conditions however last November I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency caused by they think long term steroids for my asthma.

At the time I also kept suffering random episodes of being very shaky, yawning, feeling very sick which seemed to resolve when I ate something and one of my Consultants thought I may suffer from reactive hypoglycaemia.

Fast forward to now and I’ve really been suffering from going to the loo a lot, extremely thirsty, nauseated/sick, that I’ve had to take anti sickness at times, more tired than ever and my eyesight has deteriorated again.

I had a kidney infection a few weeks ago but it’s continued and my last Consultant told me to get a meter and check my glucose levels. My HbA1c test last July was 30 so normal as I’d had some high readings in the months leading up to July.

Since getting a meter it has shown surprisingly regular higher readings. I’ve tested on waking and then before and after meals.

Weirdly though I seem to be within range up until about 11am but after that my readings start rising, ranging from higher 7’s to 12.

Can diabetes present like that, that you’re fine in the mornings but then increase as the day goes on? - I’d have thought you’d get higher readings in the morning too? I wondered if it was my steriods but it doesn’t tie in with when I take them.

Thanks

Hi @Dino40 ,
On reading your first line, I thought that, there are some endos out there that know about hypoglycaemia!
But because of your readings and observations, you don't seem to be having actual hypos.

The 11a.m. readings you are asking about is interesting for me, because that would be around the time that I would go hypo, when I was eating porridge for my breakfast. Depending on what you ate and the timing could be a delayed trigger for .many reasons. But because of your other conditions, and I presume the meds you are taking may skew symptoms and readings. Obviously I don't know, but noting down what you eat and the readings before and after, like you have been doing! This will give your doctors an idea why.
Keep safe, let us know how you get on!

Thank you. Weirdly I’ve not had one my shaking episodes since my kidney infection, it’s the other things that seem to have got worst, going to the loo and thirsty dry mouth and deteriorating eye sight.

Its’s rather puzzling but will be bring it up with the GP when I speak to them about my high blood pressure, There doesn’t seem to be a pattern with what I eat either. I can eat Pasta one night and not be that high and yet pasta another night will send them pretty high. Then I can eat sandwiches for lunch one day and it be not too high and then today I ate my sandwich as usual and my blood glucose reading went from 6.9 before to 12.4 nearly two hours after.
