I tested my bg today before lunch and as it was high decided to test again and used a different finger. My first test was 197, second (half a minute later) was 221 and as I was confused by such a difference tested yet again using a different finger and it was 191. Is it possible to have such a difference in levels only by changing fingers. I use the glucomen lx bg meter.

Yes, different fingers will give different readings. Even the same finger will give different readings ! The monitors are not 100% accurate. They have a certain acceptable tolerance of approx +/-10% or so. The lower the readings, the more similar the readings should be.

Think I did go temporarily insane for a few days some time ago.comparing readings on 3 different monitors, not good for the brain. Stick with one and stay sane. Obviously if you think your monitor is dodgy use a control solution to test.

Just tested my blood before bed and got two different readings to which my machine is telling me to check for keytones. I have no means of testing but i ate some bread with dinner so this is why i am high. Would it be adviseable maybe to take a unit of my humalog bearing in mind i am due to take my lantus shortly?? .
