Strip costs

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
Would it be worth our while to do a survey on how much the different kinds of strips cost and also perhaps which meters are most liked. We could thrnall have some grounds on which to base decisions.
I can start.
I find my Freestyle mini, easy to use on alternative sites, fast, needs very little sample and is (as far as I know0 accurate)
strips( 25 in pack) cost about £25 from the pharmacy and were £14.33 direct from Abbott , last time i asked.
T1 husband was updated by the diabetes clinic to a Onetouch Ultrasmart and hates it. He's had quite a few faulty strips.
It would be easy to make up a spread sheet.
 
When first diagnosed whilst waiting or an appointment with my GP i bought my first set of strips.
Ascensia Contour £22.50 for 50 strips at my local Asda pharmacy.

Now i get 1 box a month on repeat prescription and they last as i have now cut down on testing.

I have a Roche Accu-Check Aviva and find it very easy and almost painless to use.

50 test strips cost around £25 at pharmacies, the best price I've found on the net (from a supplier who seems reliable) is £17. Moaning, whingeing and being stroppy usually allows me to get them on prescription for nothing.

so few doesn't make for much od a spreadsheet, even a repeat I can log as a vote.

I have a Lifescan one touch ultra. The test strips cost £25 per 50.

Accuchek Compact (the old one)

The finger stabber is excellent. The meter is generally reliable and I like the 17 strip drums with automatic calibration from a barcode on the drum. I don't like accidentally pressing the button and dumping the strip drum on the floor then waiting while it goes through every empty slot one by one trying to find a strip, this only ever happens when you hit a squirter. I also don't like when the batteries fail to make contact and need tweaking, ditto.

Strips went down to a reasonable price for a while when Boots bought our local pharmacy but have now gone up to about £27 for 51
