A fairly upbeat one to start the week... as we were discussing elsewhere following the DM lifestyle will have other benefits.... diet, exercise and so on.
A person who opts for healthy lifestyle choices can have an 80% lower risk of first time stroke compared to individuals who do not.....

More controversial but on the same theme... see also:

Interesting article Jim and worthy of a read, particularly liked the following that makes perfect sense:

''Healthy lifestyle choices-don't smoke, follow a healthy low-fat diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, if you consume alcohol do so in moderation, keep body weight within normal limits and exercise regularly. People who adopt ALL these lifestyle choices can have a 80% lower risk of developing a stroke''.

Isn't the above statement what we have been saying on the forum for a long-time now?

Seems it can't be said often enough! 8)

Agreed, it should be written in bold type at the head of the forum!

I was following a low fat diet, in the hope of reducing my weight, I almost never drink alcohol, and if I do it's one glass of wine with a meal. I've never smoked, but I did have a stroke in 2003.
I now follow a low carb diet, have lost over 3 stone and haven't had another stroke.
