No consolation or schadenfreude for us T2s since we should be extra vigilant with our oral cavities. 8)

By contrast there is this news...

Reducing Cancer Risk And Mortality By Avoiding Or Controlling Diabetes
"Results of the NIH-AARP Diet and Health Study revealed that diabetes is associated with lower risk of prostate cancer in men but with higher risk of other cancers in both men and women."
Shoot me now... 8)

Once again, I'd like to look at the research paper - I haven't looked at the cancer 'original article' yet - there's a link on the page. My question would be - does diabetes lead to a higher risk of cancer? or does the diet and lifestyle that can lead to diabetes also increase the risk of cancer? to which I would think the answer is 'yes' - at least for Type 2.

They said they'd eliminated risk factors such as obesity and smoking, but did they look at diet? And the headline does say something about 'controlled' diabetes helping avoid cancer, if I remember rightly.

The prostate cancer result is interesting!

Good points Viv... a thing piece but worthwhile for some possible perspectives, a wisp of reassurance amid the worries we all have. At least someone appears to be looking into this or are they just cross-correlating the data to write a paper...? 8)
