Hi

I was diagnosed with type 2 6 years ago. However, they now think I was always type 1 and I was misdiagnosed. However since I have started insulin I am really struggling to lose weight. DSN put me on victoza a year ago and I didn't lose any weight. I have tried weight watchers, slimming world..and ended up putting weight on!!!! I am at my wits end..Im being really good with my diet but nothing is working. DSN suggested the 5:2 diet which helped me lose a bit of weight but I couldn't complete most of the 500 calorie days because I would get a hypo or feel unwell because I hadn't eaten.
Does anyone have any ideas please...getting frustrated!!!

Hello emma
Really hard to answer as I am type 2 and not taking insulin ...
Can I suggest posting on type 1 thread .....sounds like you have been through a hard time with being type 2 now type 1

Lots of supportive people here who will have knowledge and experiences to share ....

I read that Dr Mosley advised against T1s doing the 5:2 diet.

Hope a passing T1 can offer you some advice. All the best.

Really?? Well my DSN said I could try it, which I was bit surprised with..but I cant do it..my body wont let me!!!

Hi Emma, good luck on finding a suitable regime, but carb control is the key as mentioned (and as I think you know).

Carbs are key, if I have any carb laden food my bs is through the roof, even oats and beans. There's carbs and sugar in everything. Really does work for me I'm down 10kg over Christmas.
Hope it works for you, best of luck with it

Glad kicking T2 butt is working well for you..Everyone has said low carb is crucial..thats probably where I have gone wrong!!! I do love my bread and pasta..thank you :)

don't forget to adjust your insulin injections as you reduce your carb levels or you will hypo.
