hi, been struggling with my blood sugars lately, which in the end my diabetic nurse put me on 2000mg metformin 160mg gliclazide. I find im usually ok during the day but in the evening I feel rough. And sugars rise to 17-20. So the nurse mentioned that I might need to switch to insulin. Is it easy to manage with insulin or more of a worry? Thanks for your time.

Hey, could it be anything to do with your evening meal?
Before you start considering drugs as a remedy try and find the cause of the problem.
What are you eating because that is usually the problem.

I'm actually struggling to eat anything but salads and plain chicken. As if I eat carbs I struggle to move as I stiffen up lol. Gluten free breads, olives, feta cheese and small amount of fruits. Like pomegranate, grapes, 2-3 in my salads. Beetroot and carrot. But small amounts. When I don't feel like salad I eat veg stir fry without noodles.

Theres your answer I think.
Bread.
Fruits like poms and grapes ... grapes are sugar bombs.
Noodles.
Problem solved I think.
:wideyed:

Are you having any packet sauces with the stir fry?

I have like 1 slice of bread. And gluten free bread at that. I don't eat noodles. I keep them out. Grapes and poms are like 3 or 4 cut up so not huge amounts. Most is lettuce cucumber tomato. No dressing, and with evening meal I take 80mg gliclazide and 1000 mg metformin. So u say I can't have any amount of these things?

I'm a chef I make mine with no packet sauces. Little soy for seasoning and plain chicken again

I dunno really.
Something going on.
Three or four grapes would rocket me for sure.
Toms can be sweet I have no idea about the beetroot but I suspect that's a bit iffy.
Carrots can be risky too.
It's a hard life innit!
Are you taking readings before your grub and a couple of hours later to see what's going on?

Ye I record everything, and I fast for test in morning. It is a hard life. And have to check everything even when u eat healthy. I can't go near anything junk foodie. I feel so ill. Same with potatoes pasta and rices

All I can think is you need to test in the evening a few times before and after your toms and grapes and stuff.
I wouldn't imagine your liver was doing it but ... you're into pretty heavy exercise there and I have no idea about the pros and cons of that on your readings.
Have to wait till one of the more experienced turn up.
Bit late now for this place too.
All the best with it.

Ye, I had lots of tests, even a scan on liver. Which is fine. But they think I have gallstones.. Which effects my liver readings. I've had so many trips to hospital they know me by name lol. Which I hate because I feel like I'm using a bed someone else needs. I'm sure will work things out over time. Thanks for your input
