Have you checked out the recipe topic here? They have recipes for cakes, sweets, puddings. Most are low carb and good for those 'but I want something naughty' moments. I can recommend the white chocolate roughy. I keep some in fridge, for just such occasions :D

It's withdrawal phase - I promise you it will pass! Go for the 85% proof dark chocolate if you simply must have something sweet-ish with mouth-feel. I defy anyone to eat a whole bar of that at one sitting, and it's pretty low carb - read the labels.

My craving this time is 'crunch'. I use oatcakes for that, about 5 grams carb per biscuit.

A useful pudding is stewed rhubarb sweetened with Splenda - and the English is in the shops now. Serve with cream or live yoghurt.

And if you do slip, don't beat yourself up - just put it behind you and carry on.

Oh and btw, the one thing I thought I missed was fresh, white crusty bread....so I don't have it in the house but my son got a loaf the other day and that was all he could get! So I had a bite of his and do you know, it didn't taste anything like as good as I remembered. He asked me if I wanted the rest and I refused. Quite nice to find out that I really can put some things behind me :D

Thank you all...Am on track again today, was a wobble not defeated tho a bit worried about tomorrow night...Am out for a meal with family and friends for my sisters 50th birthday, which is fine as we are going to a beefeater so I can choose wisely off the menu (well, wiseish) but what do I do about cake...I have ordered her one from a lady that makes all our celebration cakes and they are to die for...Do I say oh well, she's only 50 once and ignore the carbs...Don't think I could just say no...I want to beat this diabetes but I want to enjoy life too!!...Am sure I willl eventually find that happy medium...I am more positivetoday tho (kippers for breakfast) was yummy..

Hi wobbly - how about having a very small slice?

Try some Macadamia nuts. They are VERY satisfying. (In fact, I think I'll pick some up on my way home tonight to eat after my Rib-Eye Steak. Lidl - here I come!)

Sorry about the dot reply as posted a message and it hasn't showed on the thread...Was just testing it out ...

You do know that you are allowed a treat sometimes, right? Reward yourself at least once every 2 weeks, that way it doesn't seem like a prison sentence... I bought a chocolate bar the other day, it said 33% of your daily sugar allowance (for a normal person) and I felt terrible but I just had ONE bite... It was glorious, I was in heaven.... then I handed it to my husband who was all smiles because he got a treat at the same time :) AND he was astound that I had the willpower and self restrained to just have ONE bite!

Don't punish yourself just because you're diabetic. Treat yourself a little and spaced out over time, I mean weeks, not hours.... :)

**** - forgot my Maca's. :( Didn't forget the washing powder, though.

It's not a consolation.

One bite, well done...I'm not at that stage yet but who knows what the future holds...Hey Patch I thought you were say you had forgot your macdonalds lol, had to read back...I shall be having a piece of cake Daisy, can't deprive myself...I'm not so sure that one day I wont like white bread (jury's out on that one)...Thank you everyone for all your support, well received and very much appreciated...
