hi everyone,

my brother has had a few injection problems recently and thought id get some insight until his next doc appointment.

but he injects his insulin at a 45 degree angle and sometimes gets left with a lump above the injection site, he suspects he has missed the subq layer and has injected under the surface of the skin as he is very lean.

will this affect the absorption of the insulin? he reckons it acted slower on these occasions.

many thanks

Yes, used to do occasionally and resulted in the insulin absorbing slower, so working for longer also. Usually meant going too high at the start but could not correct as it would of resulted in a low over a period of time. Im now on a pump but when on injections used a 4mm needle. Also very lean at the time. Even being lean using a 4mm needle meant injecting straight in, no need to angle. Would suggest that.
