Success!! A whole day without going high! 8.7 my highest and that was only 2.1 increase after fruit, choc fudge thing and cream!! Yay! (I am ignoring the .7 over the 8 which is supposed to be the limit- I was still under 9 which will do). I really just need to stay at home. I can do this when I’m at home sitting on sofa in my pjs all day!!

The choc fudge thing is a low carb recipe!!

Even got chocolate didn’t tip my over!! Although I did have that on a 4.6 but still only went to 6.6 if I remember correctly.

I seriously need to give up this work lark!

You need to be under 7 as a target to aim for.

I don’t think I could do 7.
My body really isn’t comfortable with being even at 5 at fasting which is perfectly normal.

7 feels way too close to that.

I am aiming to get my three monthly average down to below 5.5

Well done Cana, don't let anybody revile your efforts.

I’ve only been diagnosed for 6 months.

After first 3 months my results were 58 from 87.

For me today is a huge success.

Maybe once I’ve been diagnosed for couple of years I can do better.

For now, I’m happy that I’ve had a day under 9.

I still struggle with days where I hate diabetes. I hate the regimented lifestyle and how it gets in the way. I’ve lost appetite and have began to hate food.

A bit of cheer would be far more beneficial than telling me I could do better and that today wasn’t a success!

We can always do better. But sometimes good is enough and it is the better!

For me, I look at it differently. I embrace the fact that my appetite has decreased. Diabetes is annoying as I sit h re in a hotel that serves 5 star but carby food. It is what it is. I fell off the wagon, BIG TIME in December when we lost our last dog. I hit the Chinese takeaway like there was no tomorrow. I am now back on n track but my next HbA1c is going to be disastrous.

Tomorrow I will meet my two new puppies, 4 weeks old to be collected when they are 8 weeks. I am happy and relaxed. Life gets in the way sometimes, we just need to find be our own way through the maze.

I remember your first posts, you are doing amazingly well.

Congrats - yes it's still a little high but if it's lower than you've had before than that is absolutely step in the right direction and you should be pleased - You have already made great progress with your hba1c. We all make our journey at a different pace. 7 might seem impossible for now but I'm sure you'll get there. Diabetes is hard to get your head around and it takes time! Just one word of caution though - I would just be careful in "ignoring" the .7 though as that's nearly a whole mmol. For example if 8 is your limit then 8.7 isn't meeting your limit and you can't just ignore it. But keeping your sugars under 9 is progress from where you've started, so well done. Keep at it!

I do like not having an appetite.
What I don’t like is having to eat when I don’t want to. And with my job I have to.
Breakfast and even night meal is fine. It’s the inthe day.
I am fine with ****** food obviously. But with diabetic friendly stuff I just feel sick at the thought (not all the time).

I don’t seem to get rid of the carb flu. I only need a tiny bit of something and wham its back.

So yes I love not having an appetite. I just can’t not have an appetite when I’m working.

I love being at home fir that reason. I can eat whe I want not when I should just in case.

Well done on getting the choc fudge cream to work. I never quite figured out keto baking. As your body gets used to lower numbers (and with the changes you're making, it will), you'll get more comfortable with lower numbers. It's a process, it takes a while. Hey, you hit your target, be proud!

It’s 6 months since diagnosis though. Aren’t I supposed to be used to low numbers already?

Got up on a 5.5 today and felt like ****. Felt shakey but couldn’t work out of I was and headache!

Sorry feeling nasty and a Monday morning just don’t mix

Six months since diagnosis or 6 months since implementing changes? You don't physically get used to fives and lower unless you often see them. (Sadly on monday morning I don't always have all the answers. On other days I don't have them either, but this monday is very monday-ish. )

Stay hydrated, maybe have something salty, might help with the headache.

Well as soon as I was diagnosed I went no carb and got a right telling off from doctor.
I guess the 5s have been maybe 3 months regularly. Not during day so much but in the morning definitely.
In the 2-3 weeks am hitting 4s which my body really really doesn’t like.

Still have no awareness. One week was driving and felt odd, got home was a 4.6 next week felt odd thought of must be a 4, was 7!!

@Tipetoo stated a TARGET, or is that not reasonable?

Who mentioned Tipetoo? I was actually predicting what comments may be forthcoming and seeking to give Cana some encouragement. Maybe you should stick to facts.

Well, 2 years in a low and a high feel the same to me still... So I rather like my meter. From where I'm sitting, you're doing pretty good. Keep going.

@Cana - It's entirely up to you where youset your personal risk dials and comfort zones.

There are differing views on where the "safe" place is for those with diabetes. I won't bother posting my own target parameters as they are for me and as such irrelevant to anyone else.

Bearing in mind you are already out of your pre-diagnosis comfort zone, after a few months, it might be reasonable to review your target levels to see how close you might consider, close to non-diabetic levels.

May I ask why you can't not have an appetite when you're working? I'd have thought that might have made things simpler, if you weren't having to think about food.
