Good morning one and all!

I just wanted to share the successes of this past couple of weeks with you all, I am feeling pretty excited! Two weeks ago I made a decision to stop all my meds with the support of my HCT. I was on metformin 1g three times a day and statins. Had felt fatigued, had muscle pain and generally felt quite down. I had originally put this all down to the fact that I was studying full time, working full time, had family commitments and voluntary work...enough to stress anyone out! It wasn't the fact that my blood sugars were out of control but more the fact that for me, taking so much meds gave me permission in my head to eat what I liked. My last Hbac1 was 6.9 so within "normal limits". I have no real idea what my bgs were running on as I buried head in sand and didn't do them.
Having read the whole heated carb debate, I decided the only way I would know if it had any merit was to give it a go. For the first week I reduced my carbs to between 65-90/day. After a week with a bit of experimentation my post prandial bgs were all less than 7.2. I had bags more energy, sleeping well, no muscle fatigue and mood a whole lot improved. This past week I also introduced exercise and couldn't believe the results. Pre meal bgs of 4.1 to 5.5, post meal 5.2 to 6.8.
I have also lost 8lbs in weight, I know initially it's always a bit more and that the weekly loss will stabilise however, still a great start. I am still in the obese category at 14st 2lbs and 5'5". If my bgs are still this good with diet and exercise, I can only imagine that with weight loss they'll be even better and that in the future I may be able to relax diet a bit but one step at a time!
I am not in any way saying that everyone with type 2 should give up meds and follow a low carb diet, I am only too aware that we are all individuals with different body chemistrys. My only purpose is to share MY experience and if it gives anyone else a bit of hope or motivation to find out what works for them, then that's even better.
I feel fantastic!
