Evening all and a Happy New Year!
Quick question: For about a month now , I am recording high sugar readings with no obvious changes to diet or routine. They are high first thing in the morning, which is unusual in itself, but are remaining high throughout the day. I was diagnosed as Type 1 about five years ago as a result of Auto-Immune Pancreatitis but have always managed to maintain reasonably good levels and observe the rules I learned on the DAFNE programme. I am concerned that there may be some underlying cause that is responsible for this sudden change. Any suggestions greatly received. Thanks in advance.

@azure @billhen Could the rise be related to colder winter weather?

hi @billhen
welcome to the forum :)

the weather deffo could be a factor , and using a fresh vial of insulin is always a good idea.

the bad news is that sometimes things change that we can't put a finger on -- so the important thing is to adjust to the new readings and make adjustments to your routine . timings . I:C ratios , talk to your DSN. ( obviously not all at the same time )
but revisit what works for you and talk to your DSN and make adjustments to regain your control.

just another thought - if has been over the past 4 weeks or so -- have you had a cold or infection -- these can affect BG readings too .

Thanks for all the replies folks.
I did attend my GP clinic at the end of November with a very nasty abscess on my abdomen that required a course of anti-biotic. I guess it could be related to that even though it has since vanished. It's not been particularly cold in my location this winter, in fact, it's been very mild for the season. I inject the same units of basal-insulin now as I did way back in 2012....10 units before bed and 12 at the start of the day so I guess maybe that needs revisiting. I have avoid all sugars and carbs for the last 48 hours but the readings have remained high...think a trip to the GP may be in order tomorrow ! Thanks again for all the advice.

Hi @billhen
Just another thought regarding the numbers you are currently experiencing.

are you rotating your injection sites properly -- if you don't do this it can cause spots of non absorption to start to happen.

here is a chart showing all the sites you should be using to avoid problems with absorption
