SUGAR-FED UP

You might like to look at it from another angle.

Peril of a sugar coated scapegoat.

Excellent article.

If I may add, we are already seeing this sugar fixation problem in the UK with the rollout of the well intentioned but staggeringly stupid Traffic Light food labelling system, which ignores carbs and only highlights sugar.

Where was DUK on this by the way? Asleep at the switch I suspect. They have the lobbying power to have prevented this screw up. If they had actually exercised that power. I now need a magnifying glass, literally, to find the carb content on some foods. I am dreading the first time I find a packet with no carb labelling at all. As these labelling schemes are all voluntary, there is no comeback if a manufacturer decides to take the old-style labelling info (now in 2 point typeface) off the packaging entirely, to free up valuable marketing space.

I have been reading Gary Taubes and Robert Lustig for YEARS! It's taking a long time to become newsworthy. Even less well known is the British doctor John Yudkin, who was saying all of this in the 1970s and 1980s and was shouted down by the American Ansel Keys and his Heart Healthy 7 countries Study, full of false science. and leaving out the 15 countries he studied that didn'r fit his theory.

DUK think loads of non-sugar carbs are a jolly good idea, regardless of whether they are right about it I don't see why you would expect them to oppose it.
