simply put i think that it is you that is aggressive and you certainly don't like being argued with by a woman. It seems to me in this instance that you have been put in your place over this issue and you certainly don't like it. you cannot win because you have no argument, no solid debate, your views are final it seems and you don't like anybody disputing your version of what is, or could be.You have become clever and patronising. I am not aggressive all i have done is defended myself after being attacked by you and Sarahq and anybody that reads these posts will see the real perpretraitors that has turned this quite valuable debate into nothing more than a flame war and i guess given how good the moderators are on this valuable site you know that this is one way to get this debate closed down. A very clever move indeed.

Dennis has asked you nicely to calm this debate, flaming posters is just not acceptable!Sparkle has given us her story, she has been a poster on this site before.I see no reason to be flaming her because of her story. If this sort of aggressive flaming continues then the topic will be closed.I also mod for a far bigger forum and on that we have the ability to ban members.Just a pity I can't do it here!

OK Sarah, how about this one from the American Diabetes Association.

quote:
ADA: Splenda Brand Sweetener is the only artificial, no-calorie sweetener made from sugar. It contains sucralose and has no effect on blood glucose levels. Equal brand sweetener contains aspartame and will also not increase your glucose levels. Aspartame should not be used by people with a rare hereditary disorder called phenylketonuria. Splenda and Equal are both appropriate sweeteners for people with diabetes.

So you see it can have effects on some people,so why not others.None of us are highly qualified to judge these things.

Now you are just goading me. I have no idea if you are a man or a woman- doesn't matter a jot to me. I cannot find any previous postings on the system by you apart from on this subject. You project sociopathic traits on me as character assasination in a way to bypass logical argument. I had no viewpoint and looked into the topic of APM toxicity. I found no support for this and you still have not produced anything robust as evidence.

I am not pro-APM, I am just anti-bull.

somebody mentioned about aspartame being in natural foods, like fruit and veg.(although the post has gone now but)----

Yes you are right, some of the chemicals in Aspartame can be found in natural fruit and veg even alchohol beverage but what a lot of people don't realise is that fruit and veg have a built in protection called Ethanol and other natural chemical agents that protect the body from being poisoned. Aspartame in it's chemical form (table top sweetners, additives in food) does not have these protective natural chemical agents to protect us. Nature is a wonderful thing.

Here is a fox news report that covers most of the topics covered here.

Make up your own mind.

The subject of Phenylketonuria (which was also mentioned) is a different subject altogether. This a gentic disease that you are born with and if you have it you know from birth that you do as it's not something that develops over time, with age etc etc....

we all know how impartial Fox is - as long as it is the republican point of view.

The very fact that Fox has done a feature on it makes me think big business is on the back of this.

I’m going to stick with the facts of the video that I posted here and not comment directly on the silly posts above. So, here we have a news report from fox news. In it the investigator uncovers corruption in the FDA itself over the release of Aspartame (even the chairman of the FDA was found to have a finacial arrangment with the makers of Aspartame). At first the FDA wasn’t going to allow Aspartame to be licensed, After findings by Dr John Olney researcher into Aspartame found that it causes tumours in mice took his finding to the FDA, the FDA commissioner then DR Gere Goyan put aspartame licence on hold until an independent panel of doctors reviewed it. They unanimously voted against Aspartame saying with the evidence given it wasn’t safe and needed further studies. The FDA commissioner ordered a new review, wanting a new panel of independent doctors for further testing and studies. In the meantime there was a shift in government, the FDA commissioner was forced to step down and a new FDA commissioner appointed, Dr Arthur Hull Hayes, whose first task , which some have said was the reason he got appointed in the first place “part of the deal” was to quickly allow Aspartame a licence with no further testing. When the news reporter tracked him down, he simply didn’t want to appear on camera, and when asked if he thinks that he was responsible for putting the public’s health at risk, he quickly closed the door. They also revealed (named) senators who had taken handouts to basically indorse this product when they knew it wasn’t safe. The FDA have a total numbering 10,000 official complaints against Aspartame, and still say that there is no evidence to even suggest that aspartame isn’t safe. Two top USA websites, one being the American diabetics association, published articles on its websites ,saying that Aspartame is safe. But No where does it tell its members and readers that they get a substantial payout (both non profit organizations) from the makers of Aspartame to indorse its product., These are just facts, not people’s versions of the truth, or what they think, but facts.
Aspartame was never approved by a panel of independent doctors, in fact it was dismissed as too toxic with the evedence given. Aspartame was approved by one man, allegedly under the pay of the makers of Aspartame. the rest just snow balled with press releases under the guise of scientific studies, handout and bribes by the makers of this stuff. I hope the sceptics out there will notice that i havent included three parts of this report, firstly the wig wearing private doctor, who it could be said is only interested in selling his books, even though he did state he has 1300 people on his data base that have been effected by this, also the two actual victims interviewed, i have not included either.there could be a million reasons why they had a funny turn while drinking hot chocolate with aspartame.thats not real evidence but hearsay. The rest before it though is actual proven on record docu-mented fact.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter where you stand on this subject, that fact is, there is enough evidence to show at the very least there is something underhand going off here. For those who still doubt then ask yourself this. Why the bribes and handouts, why the cover ups. “You don’t cover up if you've nothing to hide”, “you don’t bribe people to shut up if there nothing to tell”, and you don’t continue to lie and risk your livelihood and or careers, political or otherwise, if the truth isn’t all that bad, and will probably get you some jail time for corruption. Interesting to note that the makers of Aspartame are currently asking the FDA for a licence for a new sweetener. Makes you think, What with the latest country to move towards a ban on Aspartame “Hawaii” the wave of discontent is growing over this stuff and maybe they know its just a matter of time before the poo Hits the fan. Will this new sweetener slowly replace Aspartame without us even knowing it, in the hope that this will all go away. I just hope that this time, the FDA do thier job properly, but i wont be holding my breath on that one

Regards claire.

Hi, ive been taking sweetners all my life and i recently had a baby. Whilst pregnant I had all the tests done and my liver was as clean as a whistle. I think the difference is maybe whilst you were pregnant you took them in excess? You should treat sweetners like sugar itself. No one would take spoonful after spoonful of sugar like the way you have told us you did.Im not having a go, please dont interpret it in that way, but everything in moderation. We all know takeaways aren't good for us but if eaten occasionally, as a treat, the harmful rates are greatly decreased.
I wish you and your family the greatest health for the future.

They say that if you ate a polar bears liver, which is packed with vit E,you would die!Vit. E is fat soluble so therefore can ac-um-ulate in the body. You can overdose on Vit.E and it can also act as an anticoagulant so can potentially cause bleeds.

Hi KK. I agree, too much of anything is bad for you. I have to disagree though that i took spoonfuls after spoonfuls of this stuff. I had two in my tea and roughly six to eight cups a day. the rest of it is hidden in our food and drink. It's not until you add it all up and list it that you realise how much the bits of Aspartame add up to a big lump in the week.

It's becoming apparent that different people have different tolerances to this stuff, and some can seem fine on it. That doesn't mean that it isn't poisoning your system, it just means that some people can tolerate it better. sugar free and low sugar products with Aspartame in it is like playing russian roulette with our health and as you can see from the report, offically 10,000 people have got the bullet. Hawaii may be the first in the U.S. to ban aspartame -- if they aren't sabotaged by the industry lobbyists -- but they will not be the first in the world.
Romania has that distinction, having banned aspartame in the mid 1990s; followed by Philippines banning aspartame on Oct. 13, 2005. Anyone breaking that law faces heavy fines.

For any government to take such a step there must be grave and valid reasons for doing so. They took the time necessary to investigate with an open mind and acted on the information they discovered.
They used the FDA's own list of 92 symptoms attributed to aspartame, which include developmental retardation in children; coma and death.

There are 47 members of parliament in Britain who are pushing to get aspartame banned in our country; Many of the major stores in Britian have voluntarily chosen to stop using aspartame in their products; and there are movements to get aspartame banned in other parts of the world.

regards
claire

Lol, sorry Sue it was me. The first post I started to do the other day,I went to post something then my baby son started crying didn't realise i had pressed send, then i realised i hadn't logged in and then I realised I was in the wrong topic! Doh... so i have just come in to try and delete the first post and realised i couldn't, so i was experimenting in the second post to see whether that did the same thing and it does!:D

an update

Hi all,

Well, I have been to my doctors again for another diabetes test. I was borderline diabetic after having gestational diabetes in pregancy. My son is now 5 months old. I went for my GTT a few months ago and I was 6.1 borderline diabetic, so the doctor tested me 2 weeks ago and after fasting and I was 5.2, so i am no longer borderline diabetic. I don't get it though, you're either diabetic or not, certainly not complaining though just can't seem to get my head around it, cause i had already given birth when i had both tests, both tests have been quite recent but two diferent results?

Also, as most of you maybe aware through my previous posts on aspartame, my liver readings were x 10 what they should be (gamma reading) which indicates a raging alchololic! altjough i dont drink, completely tee total. Just been to see the liver specialist and my liver function readings have gone done to x3 over the last few months. I mentioned aspartame to him and he made a note of it, as he said it does seem odd as you dont have any medication, don't drink alchohol and dont do drugs etc..... he was certainly interested in my theory and so was my nurse too. They seem to be agreeing with me that it can't be anything else why my gamma liver reading was sky high as it has come down alot since having stopped having anything with aspartame in it.

So for those of you who read my story regarding this stuff and my topics and was interested in it, then as first thought, it does look like it's the aspartame that has caused this, which we have thought all along. Even the specialists are looking into this now.

Claire
